Canadian Visitor Visa 2025 — TRV, eTA and Super Visa Experts

TRV vs eTA — Which Do You Need?

Citizens of visa-exempt countries (e.g. UK, EU, Australia) typically need an eTA (electronic Travel Authorization) to fly to Canada. Citizens of other countries need a Visitor Visa (TRV). Check IRCC's website or ask VMC to confirm your requirement.

Super Visa

The Super Visa is for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. It allows stays of up to 5 years per entry (updated from 2 years) and can be valid for up to 10 years. Requirements include: the child/grandchild must be a Canadian citizen or PR, private medical insurance of at least $100,000 CAD (2024 minimum), and the sponsor must meet the minimum income (LICO). Processing times and financial requirements are updated by IRCC; VMC provides current guidance and assists with applications.

Visitor Visa Eligibility & Ties to Home Country

IRCC assesses employment, property, family ties, financial resources, and purpose of visit (tourism, business, family visit). You must satisfy the officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay and have no intention to immigrate without authorization.

Business Visitor Visa

Business visitors may attend meetings, conferences, or short-term activities without a work permit. Permitted activities and required documents depend on the nature of the visit. VMC can advise on eligibility and documentation.

Common Refusal Reasons & VMC's Approach

Common reasons include insufficient ties to home country, inadequate financial proof, previous refusals, and concerns about misrepresentation. VMC analyzes refusal letters and addresses every officer concern systematically in reapplications.

Visitor Record — Extending Your Stay

If you are in Canada as a visitor and want to stay longer, apply for a Visitor Record before your status expires. You can request an extension (often up to 6 months). If you apply before expiry, you may have implied status while waiting for a decision.

VMC assists visitors to Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, and all Canadian cities. Whether you are applying from abroad or already in Canada, we guide you through TRV, eTA, Super Visa, and extensions.
